A large living area/den greets you as you walk in the door. We have a 10 foot handmade solid wood entertainment center from Israel that houses the TV and DVD player. It also has empty shelves for you to put some of your own things. The shelves also contain evidence of what happens when you off handedly say that you like elephants and Winnie the Pooh and then always tell people not to get you anything for the holidays or your birthday. Yup ... you get a lot of elephants and Winnie the Pooh collectibles. Fortunately, we have put a stop to this. 

We have a 9 foot couch (42" wide!) which is perfect for company and cuddling with someone special. Under the couch, there is a conference table (there are also folding chairs in the den closet). We use these when we have large parties for extra seating areas. There is a game table with chess and backgammon next to the couch. The parson chairs and nesting tables (perfect when you want a place to put your beverages but don't like clutter in front of the couch all the time) round out the little conversation center by the window.

There are huge windows throughout the apartment. The living area is bright and cheery all the time. There is a great breeze through the windows on three sides of the apartment. However, there is also a window unit if you feel hot.
